What is permeable paving?

Permeable paving (also known as porous or pervious paving) is designed to allow rainwater to pass through the surface into the ground beneath, reducing runoff, filtering pollutants, and helping recharge groundwater. Common materials include pervious concrete, porous asphalt, interlocking pavers, and grass or plastic grid systems.

What are the benefits of permeable paving?

Reduces stormwater runoff and flooding by allowing water to infiltrate instead of pooling.

Filters pollutants naturally, improving water quality as it percolates.

Recharges groundwater and maintains natural hydrological balance.

Lowers heat island effect by enabling cooler surfaces and evaporation.

Durable and low maintenance when installed properly. Ideal for driveways, patios, walkways.

What materials are best for your project?
  • Pervious Concrete or Porous Asphalt: Great for areas with frequent traffic and heavy use.
  • Interlocking Concrete Pavers (PICP): Durable, flexible, and available in various styles and colors.
  • Plastic/Grass Grid Pavers (e.g., Ecogrid): Perfect for eco-friendly, green appearance and strong load-bearing.
  • Resin-Bound or Resin-Coated Aggregates: A seamless, decorative, permeable finish suitable for pathways and light traffic.

Tips: Before selecting a material, consider your traffic load, aesthetic needs, maintenance preferences, and local climate.
